AWARDEE BIOGRAPHY
Joel M. Harris, Distinguished Professor of Chemistry at the University of Utah, will receive the 2012 ABB–sponsored Bomem-Michelson Award of the Coblentz Society for his research in analytical laser spectroscopy. Harris has developed novel techniques for observing reactions of electronically–excited states and determining molecular populations, structure, and kinetics at liquid/solid interfaces.
Harris is Fellow of the AAAS and the SAS. He has received the Coblentz Award in Molecular Spectro–scopy, the ACS Analytical Chemistry Division Award in Chemical Instrumentation, the Pittsburgh Analytical Chemistry Award, the SAS Distinguished Service Award, the Benedetti–Pichler Award in Micro–chemistry, and the ACS Award in Analytical Chemistry.
