As Chairman of the Exposition Committee, it is a pleasure to welcome your participation
in Pittcon 2008 which will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana on March 2 - 7, 2008 (Exposition dates March 3 - 6).

I hope that your plans for Pittcon 2008 are well underway.
As you may know, the Pittsburgh Conference is a not-for-profit organization with an all-volunteer organizing Committee composed of members of two sponsoring societies—the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh and the Spectroscopy Society of Pittsburgh.

Pittcon is a major part of their mission and nearly one million dollars in proceeds are devoted each year to advancing scientific education. I am pleased that a significant amount of the proceeds from Pittcon 2007 were allocated to the New Orleans public school system to fund science education programs from elementary through high school level. We will continue to do so again in 2008. Your continued support of all our science education efforts through participation at Pittcon is greatly appreciated.

Please take a few minutes to read through this newsletter, which highlights important information regarding exhibitor housing, important dates to remember, changes regarding booth displays, and other items of interest related to exhibiting.

Pittcon 2008 Exhibitor Packet
2008 Booth Space Agreements have been mailed. If you do not receive yours by the end of June, please contact Tammy Yallum.

Please note the following changes in Display Rules:
  • Looking to expand? Pay half price for any booth(s) over and above your 2007 space.
    For example, if you had a 10' x 10' at Pittcon 2007, and would like to increase to a 10' x 20' for Pittcon 2008, the cost of the first booth is $2,150, and the cost of the second booth is $1,075.
  • The maximum height for booth structure is 20' with the exception of the cross hatched (////) areas on the floor plan which are a maximum of 8' 3".

  • The maximum height for the top of all hanging banners is 25'. A detailed sketch of all hanging banners must be submitted for approval by January 14, 2008.
Jackson Square 
New this year —Jackson Square! This 9,900 square foot park-like area is an ideal place for conferees to take a break, meet with colleagues, or plan their day on the expo floor. Park benches in this area are available as one of the many promotional opportunities available to exhibitors.


Due Dates
  • July 30, 2007 - Your booth space agreement and payment must be received to be included in the first round of booth assignments. Booth space agreements will be accepted until February 18, 2008. Please note all booths are assigned strictly on a seniority basis.

Pittcon is offering a wide range of promotional opportunities to fit any advertising budget. In addition to the old favorites like the Tram Stops, Lobby Benches, Souvenir Inserts, and Bus Signs, we have also added several new, exciting promos.
