Pittsburgh Conference Memorial National College Grants (PCMNCG) Award Program

The Pittsburgh Conference and its sponsoring societies, the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh (SACP) and the Spectroscopy Society of Pittsburgh (SSP) are pleased to announce the 2008 Pittsburgh Conference Memorial National College Grants (PCMNCG) Award Program.

The Pittsburgh Conference Memorial National College Grants Program, originally established in memory of R.K. Scott, 1955 President of the Pittsburgh Conference, serves as a memorial to deceased members of the Pittsburgh Conference Committee by promoting excellence in science education.  Through the program, small colleges can enhance their science curricula through grants to purchase equipment and course materials.  In 1974, two grants of $1000 each were given.  In 2008, at least $115,000 is available for about twelve of these awards.

As Chairman of the 2008 PCMNCG Committee, I invite you to apply for one of this year’s awards.  This packet includes information about the award, the application form, a description of the eligibility criteria and a list of previous awardees.  The deadline for receipt of completed applications and proposals is December 1, 2007.  Copies of these documents and some additional information are available on the Pittsburgh Conference website (www.pittcon.org).

Funding for these awards is provided by The Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy.  This annual event, also known as Pittcon, offers the most comprehensive technical program on analytical chemistry and the largest exhibit of analytical instrumentation, equipment, supplies and services in the world.  The Pittsburgh Conference will present Pittcon® 2008 Conference & Expo from March 1 – March 7, 2008 at Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, LA.

We look forward to your grant application and proposal and wish you continued success in creating excellence in science education at your institution.

Sincerely,

Kevin J. McKaveney
Chairman, 2008 Pittsburgh Conference Memorial National College Grants Program
