EMPLOYERS
Register as an employer with the Pittcon Employment Bureau to view available candidate information, credentials and resumes. Employers may schedule interviews with candidates in the private interview rooms. There are a limited number of reserved interview booths which will be available on a weekly basis for a fee.
For the first time, there will be a limited number of deluxe reserved booths which also will be available for a fee.
Because the Employer Information Center (EIC) is not located in the same general area as the Employment Bureau, it has been determined that employers are not required to be present at the EIC. Although being available at the EIC may be helpful in addressing candidate's questions, it is optional. In addition, the display table request form has been simplified. Based on table availability you can reserve a table for the complete time period from 1:00 PM Sunday, March 9 to 5:00 PM Tuesday, March 11.

EMPLOYER INFORMATION CENTER (EIC)
New for Pittcon 2012 is the Employer Information Center located in Room 315A. In a job fair style setting, employers may present company literature and communicate with candidates in an informal manner during their time in the EIC.
Based on table availability each employer can display their company information from 1:00 PM Sunday, March 11 to 5:00 PM Tuesday, March 13. Being present is optional.
Although you can request a display table on-site at the Employment Bureau, it is recommended that this be done prior to the Conference in order to ensure the availability of a table and decrease waiting times.
Please note interviewing will be prohibited in the Employment Information Center. Participation in the EIC is voluntary.
EMPLOYER FAQs
Is the Employment Bureau set up like a job fair?
The main area of the Employment Bureau (EB), in Room 415AB is not like a job fair. It is a service provided to match up candidates and employers based on demographic, position and resume information. Information from both groups is made available for viewing by EB Registrants. However, for the first time there will be an Employer Information Center (EIC) which will function as a job fair. The EIC is located in 315A. and will operate from Sunday afternoon until Tuesday afternoon.
Is there a fee?
There is not a fee to participate in the Employment Bureau, except for employers who want to reserve an interview room. There is no charge for the standard unreserved room. You must be a registered Pittcon conferee or exhibitor to participate in the EB which also includes the EIC.
Can I do searches and interview scheduling on my own?
Searches that can be performed by the EB staff can also by performed by the candidates and employers. If you have problems performing searches the EB staff will assist you or perform the search for you. Interview scheduling can only be performed by the EB staff at the request of an employer. Candidates can send employers an email stating that they are interested in a particular position.
Must I bring my own computer or other electronic communications device?
For the first time the Employment Bureau will be completely electronic. There will be no paper copies of candidate and employer listings in binders. Although there will be a limited number of computers available for searching and listing candidates and employers, it is strongly recommended that you bring your own computer or other electronic communications device which have Internet and Email access. There are electrical outlets available for charging the devices.
What caliber of candidates participate in the EB?
The candidate field can be comprised of any Pittcon registered person. With attendance of over 18,000, all demographics from the scientific community may be interested in your positions. We cannot predict the typical participant background & experience levels.
Can I display my company materials?
You can display your materials in the interview room and at the Employment Information Center (EIC) or Job Fair in Room 315A, if you request a display table for a particular session. The advantage of displaying at the EIC is that your company literature will be made available to all registered candidates not just those being interviewed. Additionally, unless you have a reserved interview room, you will have to move the materials from room to room since interviews are assigned to different rooms throughout the day.
Why should I rent a specific interview room?
If you are performing many interviews throughout the interview times it may be useful to have the availability of the same location. For the first time, Pittcon is offering reserved Deluxe Interview Rooms in addition to the standard and standard reserved rooms. The deluxe rooms are twice the size of standard rooms and have electrical outlets. If you need an interview room to call your home base, you should complete the Rental Contract and remit the fee. If you rent a room on or before February 13, 2012, you can get the room for at least 25% reduced cost which is $350.00 for the standard room and $600.00 for the deluxe room. After February 13, the cost is $500.00 and $800.00, respectively. There are only a limited number of reserved rooms and availability is based on a first come first serve basis.
Do I have to be at the conference to post jobs?
You can post positions ahead of time but they will not be available for review until Conference week. You do have to be at the Conference to arrange interviews.
What email address should I use when I register my company?
The email address you list is where interview confirmation and emails from candidates will be sent. You will also be able to read your emails within your Employment Bureau account that you set up when you registered.
How big is the candidate pool?
Typical candidate EB attendance ranges from 450 -750 during the four days.
I cant make it to the conference, can I access resumes or position information after the Conference closes?
The candidate and employer information is not available after Conference week. One of the main goals of the Employment Bureau is to enable face to face meetings between candidates and employers during Conference week.
