COME SHARE IN THE EXCITEMENT OF SCIENCE EDUCATION AT PITTCON® 2008!

Science Week Supporting Science Education
(SWSSE)

Each year Pittcon® offers outreach and support programs for science education in the city that hosts its annual convention.  The outreach programs include teacher workshops, student workshops and a lecture/demonstration assembly.  The support programs also provide awards and grants to individuals and schools.

AWARDS

A special effort is going to be made in 2008 to recognize and reward individuals in the New Orleans area who have made significant contributions to the quality of education, especially science education, in their respective disciplines or districts.  Recipients of the recognition and appreciation awards are eligible for $500 in cash and a plaque.  Individuals who qualify for these awards may have taken steps to minimize the effects of Katrina, helped with recovery efforts, improved school relations with the community and/or industry, offered enrichment programs for peers, or demonstrated exceptional perseverance in spite of extreme difficulties.
