Syagen Technology, Inc.

Monday, February 26, 2007
10:00 AM to 10:30 AM

Room S105A

Syagen is pleased to present updates on two new products. (1) The Guardian explosives trace detection portal screens individuals non-intrusively for concealed bombs. The Guardian is the only portal available that uses mass spectrometry (MS) for detection. MS offers tremendous performance benefits compared to ion mobility spectrometry (IMS). MS has 10x greater resolution and gives true molecular information, which translates into detection of significantly more threat compounds with higher detection probability and lower false positive rate. (2) A multi-mode ESI/APPI (ESPI for short) source for LC/MS instrumentation represents a major new advance and addition to our PhotoMate line of APPI sources. Syagen APPI sources are available through major vendors such as Agilent, Thermo Electron, Waters, and Shimadzu. ESI and APPI are the most orthogonal choices for multimode ionization. The ESPI source offers a wider range of ionizable compounds, higher sensitivity for high and low flow rates, and less susceptibility to ion suppression than multimode sources based on ESI and APCI.
