"Analytical Chemistry is undergoing yet another reincarnation, reaffirming its reputation as a vibrant area of science and technology" (Nature, 2007)
Pittcon, the premier conference and exposition for all scientists who use analytical measurements in their research, is poised to be part of this reincarnation. It is only fitting that Pittcon 2008 will take place in New Orleans, a city that is also celebrating its own reincarnation.

The latest news from New Orleans:
- Los Angeles Times (Feb. 4, 2007) names New Orleans one of the worlds "don't miss destinations."
- Airlines serving The Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport continue to add non-stop service as air traffic approaches pre-Katrina levels.
- The Morial Convention Center is doing brisk business as evidenced by the 13 events that brought more than 36,000 attendees to the Crescent City in February on top of the huge crowds that took part in the Mardi Gras celebration. The center will host more than 71 major conventions, tradeshows and meetings in 2007.
- With $60 million in renovations completed, the Morial Convention Center is sporting a brand new look and level of comfort. Renovations include new flooring and furnishings on all three levels, hotel-like finishes, and a brighter, more engaging environment.
- According to the Lousianna Restaurant Association, there are 743 restaurants open in Orleans Parish alone - 90 percent of pre-Katrina totals. These include restaurants in the French Quarter, downtown, Warehouse Arts District, Garden District, and Uptown New Orleans popular with visitors to the city.
- The New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau has launched an aggressive, strategic marketing, public relations and direct sales campaign that includes production of a film "A Whole New Orleans" and introduction of an international branding campaign called "Forever New Orleans".
