Beth Kirol, Pittcon 2007 President

At Sunday's Pittcon Press Conference, Pittcon 2007 President, Beth Kirol, presented the 50 Year Exhibitor Special Recognition Awards to Brinkman Instruments, PANanlytical, and Parr Instrument Company. President Kirol also announced what was new for Pittcon 2007 -- co-programming with the American Chemical Society Division of Analytical Chemistry; Conferee Networking Sessions to increase networking opportunities at Pittcon; posters in the middle of the exposition floor for greater visibility and easier access; multiple Short Course discount; and new additions to the Short Course program.

 

Pittcon Heritage Award

David Schwartz, Chairman of the Board, Bio-Rad Laboratories, was presented the Pittcon Heritage Award, an annual recognition by the Pittsburgh Conference and the Chemical Heritage Foundation of outstanding individuals whose entrepreneurial careers have shaped the instrumentation community.

This was the topic of Sunday's Plenary lecture, given by Charles M. Lieber, The Mark Hyman Professor of Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology and Professor in the Division of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Harvard University.
